People regularly enquire about painting ceiling tiles or how to paint ceiling tiles. It has always been the case that suspended ceiling tiles could not be painted because water based paint would be absorbed by the ceiling tiles and cause warping. Of course oil based paint is completely out of the question as it creates a fire risk. The other huge problem that arises when attempting to paint suspended ceiling tiles is that the tiles will stick to the grids. This of course defeats the whole purpose of having a suspended ceiling installation in the first place as workers will need access to the area above the ceilings for maintenance purposes and also in the case of the ceiling tiles being installed in a retail area, signs, banners, seasonal decorations and other promotional materials are often hung from the ceilings. The RK Coatings Process is suitable for Acoustic Ceiling Tiles, Vinyl Ceiling Tiles, Metal Ceilings. We can even Blackout or indeed Whiteout concrete ceiling void areas coating pipework, ducting cables etc.

Hi. This is Tyson from Gympie, Australia. Great idea painting the ceiling tiles. Haven't seen anyone doing that here in the land down-under. You brought up some good points in your article that many people may not have thought of; like warping of the tiles and fire hazard. Keep writing! Sharing ideas and techniques internationally keeps us ceiling professionals current and continually improving.

I want to make sure that I get my home soundproofed, but I'm not sure how to go about it. It makes sense that I would want to get a professional to install some acoustic tiles. That seems like a good way to ensure that it blocks out sound effectively.
